Sonscreen 2025 Brings Together 200+ Creatives to Celebrate Faith, Film, and Community

From April 3-5, more than 200 student filmmakers, professionals, and guests gathered at Loma Linda University Church in California for the North American Division’s 2025 Sonscreen Film Festival. Now in its 22nd year, this unique NAD event showcased 48 student films and several professional projects, featured workshops led by professional faith-based filmmakers, and honored emerging voices via a pitch competition with cash prizes and an awards ceremony.

Hope Channel Premieres NAD Stewardship’s Family Film “The Mysterious Note”

​​​​​​​"The Mysterious Note" had its Hope Channel premiere on April 4, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. ET, with more showings scheduled later in the month. The film looks to teach parents and kids what it means to be a good steward of the things God has entrusted them with.

The North American Division Welcomes New Director and Associate Director of Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries

Two key positions, director and associate director, on the NAD Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries team have been filled with familiar names. On April 7, the NAD committee voted the name of assistant director Washington Johnson II to serve as director; and assistant director Gilda Roddy was promoted to associate director.

Washington Adventist University Partners with Local Laurel College Center to Expand Educational Pathways

Howard Community College (HCC) and Prince George’s Community College (PGCC), both in nearby Maryland counties, announced in March 2022 a partnership with Washington Adventist University to expand access to bachelor’s degree programs at Laurel College Center. Founded by HCC and PGCC, Laurel College Center is a Maryland regional higher education center that serves students seeking associate and bachelor’s degrees.
