Sonscreen 2025 Brings Together 200+ Creatives to Celebrate Faith, Film, and Community

From April 3-5, more than 200 student filmmakers, professionals, and guests gathered at Loma Linda University Church in California for the North American Division’s 2025 Sonscreen Film Festival. Now in its 22nd year, this unique NAD event showcased 48 student films and several professional projects, featured workshops led by professional faith-based filmmakers, and honored emerging voices via a pitch competition with cash prizes and an awards ceremony.

Volunteer Lay Pastor Recognized for "Saving" Church With One Member

With just one member still in regular attendance a year ago, the Osceola Seventh-day Adventist Church was about to close. That all changed when Bill Ruble entered the picture. He and his wife, Carol, immediately got to work inviting old members back to church and visiting with prospective members, many of whom had previously attended evangelistic meetings but had not joined the church. They also recruited help from others who had been active with them in a home-based church plant for several years prior. After a year of these joint efforts, there are now 25-30 people in regular attendance at the Osceola church.

Two Adventist Camps Evacuated Due to Nearby California Wildfire

Central California Conference’s Camp Wawona, located within Yosemite National Park, has been evacuated due to the nearby Ferguson Fire, which is encroaching on Yosemite Valley. And Pine Springs Ranch, within the Southeastern California Conference, has also evacuated their camp due to fire and smoke threats.

Plainfield Seventh-day Adventist Church is located in a small, quiet town, just outside of Lebanon, New Hampshire. Though the church may be small, it is making a big difference in the community. After some discussion, the members decided they would focus their outreach on being in touch with their neighbors. This decision has led to some exciting opportunities.

Loma Linda University School of Dentistry Awarded Nearly $300,000 in HIV/AIDS Curriculum Funding

For the 16th consecutive year, the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry was awarded $298,848 in federal funding by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part F, to provide community-based HIV/AIDS training for dentistry, international dentistry and dental hygiene students. “We’re extremely proud of the funding we have received the past 16 years,” said Eun-Hwi Euni Cho, DDS, director of Educational Assessment at this Adventist school of dentistry.
