Sonscreen 2025 Brings Together 200+ Creatives to Celebrate Faith, Film, and Community

From April 3-5, more than 200 student filmmakers, professionals, and guests gathered at Loma Linda University Church in California for the North American Division’s 2025 Sonscreen Film Festival. Now in its 22nd year, this unique NAD event showcased 48 student films and several professional projects, featured workshops led by professional faith-based filmmakers, and honored emerging voices via a pitch competition with cash prizes and an awards ceremony.

Loma Linda University Health Doctor Presents at Local Schools to Warn Students on Dangers of Vaping

Loma Linda University Health physician Laren Tan, M.D., recently began a regional tour to speak with junior high and high school students about the dangers of vaping. Starting with La Sierra Academy in Riverside, California, Tan spoke to students about the dangers of both the substance being vaped and the lesser-known hazards of the activity.

“God in Shoes” Coordinates Widespread Outreach in Orlando, Florida, to Serve Women and Their Families

On September 27, more than 600 attendees of the 2019 NAD Women’s Convention participated in a day of community service organized by God in Shoes. Since 2009, the Georgia-Cumberland Conference-based ministry has been the official community service outreach organizer for the convention, which is held every five years. The women had a dozen projects to choose from that met a wide range of Orlando’s societal needs.

“Whole and Holy” Women’s Convention Emphasizes Spiritual, Mental, and Physical Health

More than 1,000 women were given the opportunity to enrich their lives spiritually, mentally, and physically during the “Whole and Holy” 2019 North American Division Women’s Convention. The four-day event, which included general sessions, breakout seminars, and worship services, was held at the Rosen Shingle Creek Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, September 26-29.

Engagement watches, Saturday night Rook games, vegetarian potlucks, debates on proper construction of the “haystack” — for many Seventh-day Adventists these things are instantly familiar. But do anecdotal experiences constitute a denominational culture, and are cultural practices linked to Adventist K-12 school enrollment in America? A doctoral study by La Sierra University assistant professor of Education Aimee Leukert recently produced intriguing answers to these questions through a mixed-methods approach.
