Lessons From a Storm: Spiritual Takeaways from the Gillette Camporee

After a whirlwind five years, including a pandemic and transition from Ontario Conference communication director to NAD news writer/news producer, I returned to camporee, this time in Gillette, Wyoming, in 2024. Return speaker Damian Chandler’s messages and the production powerfully depicted the story of Moses, my favorite Bible character. The most lasting lessons came, however, from the storms that impacted the “Believe the Promise” camporee.

Oakwood University President to Take on New Role at the North American Division

On Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, the Oakwood University Board of Trustees announced that Leslie N. Pollard, Ph.D., has accepted a new position with the North America Division. In a statement, Oakwood University shared that Pollard has accepted a new opportunity to join the North American Division (NAD) as assistant to the president for pastoral continuing education and mission, commencing July 1.

After Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton Wreak Havoc, Adventist Community Services Work to Help Communities in Southeast U.S. Recover

About three weeks after Hurricane Helene — and a week after Hurricane Milton — swept across the Southeastern U.S., efforts to help residents in the path of the two storms continue. Adventist Community Services (ACS) is one of the organizations that has mobilized to help, beginning preparations before the mighty storms made landfall. After the storms hit, ACS Disaster Response (DR) across the impacted area assessed where they could best serve the communities.

The Voice of Prophecy Turns 95 Years Old

The Voice of Prophecy (VOP), Seventh-day Adventism’s oldest existing media ministry, celebrates its 95th birthday this month. The ministry began on October 19, 1929, when Adventist preacher Harold Marshall Sylvester (H.M.S.) Richards Sr. started regularly broadcasting biblical messages on California radio stations. From its first day to now, VOP has used cutting-edge technology to proclaim the everlasting Gospel of Christ, touching millions of lives worldwide.
