From April 3-5, more than 200 student filmmakers, professionals, and guests gathered at Loma Linda University Church in California for the North American Division’s 2025 Sonscreen Film Festival. Now in its 22nd year, this unique NAD event showcased 48 student films and several professional projects, featured workshops led by professional faith-based filmmakers, and honored emerging voices via a pitch competition with cash prizes and an awards ceremony.

Join the Creation Sabbath Celebration
For the past 15 years, individuals around the world have celebrated Creation Sabbath, a special occasion promoted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church emphasizing the recognition and appreciation of God as the Creator. This event, scheduled annually on the fourth Saturday in October, was specifically formalized in 2009 as a response to the prominent featuring of naturalistic models of origins because of the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his book On the Origin of Species. The decision to create a yearly recurrence was influenced by the growing need to recognize God’s power and grace as Creator and Redeemer.

Wanting to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest setup of a four-person tent at the International Pathfinder Camporee in Gillette, Wyo., this summer, members of the Southern Asian Church Seventh-day Adventist Church (SASDAC) Sentinels Pathfinder Club in Silver Spring, Maryland, were disappointed when the planned competition didn’t take place. But once the group returned home, they tried to break the record again.

“We call it Pentecost 2025 because we don't really want it to be about numbers. We want it to be about the outpouring of God's Spirit today. ... That's really where the focus should be.” Pentecost 2025 launched on July 1, 2024. And while that’s still the focus as evidenced by the prayer plan and video training webinars currently in production, the NAD is enthused that, to date, more than 3,100 churches and schools have registered.
